Front entrance sunburst

We' so close to getting the 'ship sealed it's tantalising!

I spent quite a bit of time working out the size and shape of the bottle brick sunburst above the front doors. Then at last I made a start.

Triangular window prep

While I was doing that, Dave was fitting the wood beading around the triangular windows ready for the glazing. There's no pics because apart from there not being much to see, Dave covered it all up with plastic before I got a chance.

Both jobs are very fiddly and time consuming, but we're getting there.

Skylight flashing

Dave also cut and screwed the metal flashing on the skylights. I'll need to take them off to paint a protective layer on to stop them rusting before we finally silicone seal them in place.

The rocks are the counter weights which will be wired in place.

Front face infill

Above our lovely big windows are small gaps between the beams. We're filling these with bottle bricks and padobe.

Cochineal bug invasion

There's been an invasion of the cochineal bug in Spain this year. It lives (and feeds) on prickly pear cacti and has devastated them. We've been keeping an eye on ours and washing the little bugs off when we see them, so far so good. I might try and do a little dying or painting with the rich red dye they produce...if I get time.
