Scorching July
We didn't think it could get any hotter, but it has. Even so the satsuma tree has little green buds on it despite the blistering sun, so we presume the roots survived the lack of watering.
Today was a carpentry day, lots of shimming, applying wood preservative, drilling, chiselling and bashing in nails.
Fran weilding the 4kg sledgehammer. She didn't think she'd even be able to pick it up and now look what's she's doing with it.
Although the small one is much easier to use

Dave's been dying to walk across the beams ever since we put them on. They aren't all nailed in position yet so it was a little hair raising watching him. Here he is though drilling the holes for the rebar to hold the top beams onto the central beam (see diagram below) |
