The Chain Gang

That's what it felt like today. We had to take the front earth cliff to ground level where the footings for the round room columns and door will be. It seemed like such a small job to begin with, chop out a bit of earth, wheelbarrow it to the back of the earthship for berming. And it was such a small amount of earth compared to what the digger man took away a few weeks ago. But what a big job it turned out to be. We spent all day chunking away at what felt like solid rock and we still have the footings to dig. If only we'd known.....
